Pound Cake

Pound cake ... ehmmm let's say this one of the great desserts. It's very simple, but you can dress it up with peach or strawberry or just make it simple with sprinkle sugar on top of it. It's Perfect for a tea and I really do suggest that you make this the day before you want to serve it. This is a light dessert, sweet without being intensely sweet, and the flavors are very delicate ( add lemon zest to bring out the flavour of lemon in this recipe). I made one loaf to eat the next day (purposely). Believe me the texture was unchanged, however the flavor had matured ...delicious...This recipe from one of my favourite website "joyofbaking".
Pound Cake
Ingredients :
  • 226gr of unsalted butter (I'm using margarine 150gr and shortening 76gr coz out of stock of butter LOL)
  • 200gr castor sugar
  • 230gr of self raising flour ( if you dont have, use 230gr of all purpose flour mix with 2 tsp of baking powder)
  • 1/8tsp of salt ( no need use if you using margarine like me )
  • 4 eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • lemon essence
  • grated lemon zest to bring out the flavour of lemon. ( optional )

Directions :

  1. Preheat oven 177C
  2. Make sure you sift self raising flour twice ( all purpose flour + baking powder), put aside.
  3. In mixing bowl, beat butter until creamy and smooth.
  4. Then gradually add sugar and beating continously ( with medium speed about 5 minutes) untill the texture light in colour and fluffly.
  5. Add egg one at a time, mixing well and add vanilla, lemon essence and grated lemon zest, beat it.
  6. Add flour and mix until incorporated.
  7. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. ( can use 2 pans if you using small loaf pan )...smooth the top of batter.
  8. Bake for 50-60minutes.
  9. Remove and cool on a wire rack about 15minutes, then remove cake from the pan. cool completely. (more better if you serve the next day ).....

Angel's Food cake

If you do a lot of baking, there's a good chance that you sometimes have extra egg whites leftover. That's because there are so many recipes that call for just the yolk.Want to indulge your sweet tooth without all the fat then you must try this Angel's cake but you maybe surprised at how many egg whites are in an angel food cake...lol...Angel Food Cake is a very light textured dessert cake. The reason the cake is so light in texture is due to the incorporation of whipped egg whites.
Ingredients :
  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar (confectioners' sugar ) sifted.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar.
  • 1 cup flour sifted.
  • 1 1/2 cup egg whites (just blended) will eventually whip all into firm, soft peaks.
  • 1 1/2 tsp crea of tartar.
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence.
  • 1/4 tsp almond essence.
  • 1/4 tsp salt.

Directions :

  • Preheat oven to 180C.
  • mix powdered sugar with flour and set aside.
  • In separate mixing bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla essence, salt, and almond essence at high speed until well blended. You will gradually sprinkle in granulated sugar about 2-3 tablespoons at a time while beating at high speed.
  • Beat until the sugar is dissolved and egg whites are whipped into stiff peaks. ( just do not scrape sides of bowl during beating, this will deflate the air that you are incorporating into the egg whites).
  • Fold in flour mixture about 1/3 at a time, with a rubber spatula just until flour disappears.
  • Pour mixture in ungreased 24cm cake pan. Cut through batter to break large air bubbles with spatula.
  • Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until a nice golden or until cake springs back when lightly touched.
  • Remove from oven and immediately invert pan; cool completely before removing cake from pan

Marshmallow fondant

Fondant it's quite expensive and not always easy to find ...why you not make your own fondant...here's the recipe ...

Ingredients :
  • Mini package of mini marshmallows ( white in colour )
  • 2 to 5 tablespoons water
  • 9oogr icing sugar
  • ½ cup shortening

How to :

  • First, add the water to the marshmallows in a large bowl and microwave for 60 seconds.
  • Stir the mixture until it becomes like a syrup and microwave longer if necessary.
  • You basically want to get rid of all the lumps so the mixture is smooth. Then add the sugar and mix well to combine the two.
  • Once the mixture is starting to come together, coat your hands and your work surface with a thin layer of shortening, then take the mixture out of the bowl and knead the fondant just like you would with bread dough until it is smooth (do be careful when handling the melted marshmallow mixture as it will be very hot when it first comes out of the microwave).
  • If the fondant is too sticky add a little more sugar, if it's too dry add a little more water. It's now ready for use.
  • If you want add flavors or colors to the fondant also can, just putting them in the syrupy mixture before you add the sugar or try using strawberry or chocolate marshmallows instead of the white ones.

New York Cheese Cake (Must try AAA+++)

Hiyaaaaaaaaa....akhirnya setelah ngidam ngidam kayak kucing mo beranak..kesampaian juga bikin cheese cake secara kalo nungguin laki gua ..sama aja bunuh diri dulu kale guanya...dia mah ngelayap ma teman mulu hehehhe....teskturnya creamy banget...lembut mahoi geboi dah....harusnya sich ngk usah pake biscuit sebagai dasarnya cuma dakunya aja bandel maunya ngk mau rugi jadi ada biscuit nyisa...masukin aja..hahahha...but it's really the best ever cheese cake...termasuk salah satu favorite gua juga loh....I didn’t have any sour cream, and just used plain yogurt instead, biasa tinggalnya di ujung planet sich...jadi aku campur aja cream ama plain yoghurt....still the result was good enough (tapi baiknya memang pake sour cream ya) ini mah gua terpaksa...paksa...paksa...banget soalnya udah mutar sana sini sour creamnya ngumpet semua....ya terpaksa muter kepala mutar otak cari cara biar taste tetap ngk berubah sama sekali...ech dapat ide nambahin cream ma plain yoghurt...hehehe dasar orang iseng kaya gua ini dech...hehehhe.....

Yo..tak ajarin cara bikinnya daripada beli diluar mahal ..mending bikin ndiri ya..lumayan bisa makan buat 2 hari kedepan...wakakakkakkkk... pake loyang bongkar pasang ya ..kira kira muat la ma loyang 7inch gua.....

Bahan:

  • 250gr cream cheese ( room temperature)

  • 250gr sour cream

  • 100gr sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 tsp maizena

  • 2Tbs lemon juice

  • 1.5 tsp gelatin bubuk (Gua iseng masih nambahin gelatin bubuk yg di larutkan dengan air mendidih banget )

Buat pelapis gua biasanya pake peach atau mandarin orange bisa juga strawberry....suka suka dech

  • 2 Tbs gelatin bubuk

  • 70ml juice peach. orange atau strawberry

( tim pelapis yaitu gelatin and juice buahnya sampai warnanya agak transparant gitu dech sampai semua bubuk gelatin kecampur bersih)

Cara buat cheese cake :
